Job Opportunity: Shift Manager – Hong Kong

Are you a highly skilled and motivated technical professional looking for an exciting new challenge? We have a dynamic opportunity for a Shift Manager based in Hong Kong, where you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of critical systems in a high-stakes environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to statutory Health & Safety requirements according to corporate and local policies. Conduct safety audits and report any non-compliances.

  • Maintenance Oversight: Oversee planned preventative maintenance to ensure quality and compliance. Coordinate with vendors and contractors, ensuring maintenance documentation is accurate and timely.

  • Technical Leadership: Act as the Method of Procedure Coordinator for maintenance tasks. Attend and supervise maintenance activities requiring permits and produce clear, professional reports on maintenance activities and incidents.

  • Operational Management: Monitor and measure operational issues, ensuring proper use and creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Methods of Procedure (MOPs), and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs). Conduct regular inspections to maintain high maintenance quality.

  • Team Leadership: Motivate contractors to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs), oversee the correct use of the CMMS system, and manage site maintenance staff and contractors effectively.

  • Customer and Stakeholder Relations: Interface with contractors and customers during operational issues and incidents, providing timely resolution updates. Participate in Business Continuity Planning and scenario drills, representing the company professionally to customers and visitors.

  • Environmental Responsibility: Contribute to reducing carbon emissions and environmental impact through efficient practices.

Key Requirements:

  • Technical Expertise: Operational experience at the Technician or Supervisor level in a 24x7 critical technical environment (e.g., data centers, telecoms buildings, naval vessels, power generation plants). Strong technical knowledge of critical systems such as electrical, cooling, fire detection/suppression, and power generation.

  • Qualifications: Relevant electrical or mechanical engineering qualifications or equivalent experience, along with qualifications in Health & Safety, high voltage, and first aid. Familiarity with local statutory requirements is essential.

  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and knowledge of critical environment operational procedures. Written and spoken English proficiency at least at level B of the Common European Framework.

  • Personal Traits: Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to negotiate internally and with higher-level stakeholders. Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure, especially during incident management.
