Job Opportunity: Regional Facility Operations Manager – Tokyo

Are you an experienced data center professional with a passion for innovation and excellence? We have an exciting opportunity for a Regional Facility Operations Manager based in Tokyo, where you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing data center operations across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define data center operations. Develop and implement Change Management procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP) for regional colocation data centers.

  • Technical Expertise: Lead teams and consultants in ensuring efficient and secure data center operations in both normal and emergency situations. Manage vendors to ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) as per contractual terms.

  • Project Coordination: Support the project manager during data center construction phases. Coordinate with internal teams to assist with new data center projects from design to commissioning.

  • Energy Efficiency: Analyze and implement energy-efficient solutions to minimize power losses.

  • Quality Assurance: Review and develop detailed scripts for Change Management Request (CMR) activities, provide instructions to vendors, and validate the quality of their work on-site.

  • Site Visits: Travel to data center sites for engineering studies, electrical systems audits, startup testing, and full commissioning as needed.

  • Critical System Review: Provide electrical mission-critical system review services to global data center engineering teams. Participate in Root-Cause-Analysis (RCA) for equipment failures or power outages.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in large data center facility operations (10+MW), with at least 2 years in a team leader role.

  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of data center mechanical, electrical, fire systems, and control systems. Functional knowledge of cloud technologies, IT service delivery principles, and best practices.

  • Skills: Strong problem analysis and critical thinking abilities. Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is required.

  • Travel: Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed (up to 50% or more at times).

  • Language Skills: Bilingual in Mandarin Chinese is a plus, as coordination with HQ in China will be necessary.
